Youth Event Dates: July 23-26, 2024
Virginia Beach Convention Center
A FINAL NOTE from Rev. Belinda Sledge
We want to thank all of you who registered for the youth event. Registration is now closed, so we can make preparations for the main event. However, you can still send in your donations for the nursing home and gifts or gift cards for the youth. If you are mailing them be sure they reach the Conference Office by Saturday, July 20th. You can also bring items with you to turn in at registration times between 2:00 to 5:00 pm on July 23rd. If you are in the Virginia area and not planning to attend you can still drop off items at the Convention Center.
Remember, everyone is invited to opening worship (with Rev. Courtney Jenkins) and the parade (with Hampton Drumline) on July 23rd. That portion of event is free and open to the public. This is the only time you can attend without registering. After opening worship everyone who is not registered will be dismissed, as immediately following that is when the event begins for those registered. The closing worship is a luncheon, so only those with advance registration can attend.
The planning committee is so excited, and we thank all of you who contributed in some way, even with your prayers. Hope to see you on the prayer call, July 18th at 6:30. See link (above) and also on website.
Still needed for the Service/Outreach project: this is an updated list
Youth will visit the Virginia Beach Healthcare and Rehabilitation with 180 residents. This facility is a rehab and assisted living facility. It is one of the lower rated facilities, which is one of the reasons why our youth presence will be valued. Part of the visit will involve delivering a care package to all 180 residents, with the following items. All items should be travel size/ small, i.e. 4-6 oz for easy packing. If you can secure some of these items, contact Patrice Smallwood or Rossiland Westmoreland via their e-mail linked names.

You may contact Rev. Belinda Sledge with any questions and for additional information at 336-558-4901 or bsledge@soc-ucc.org.

Rev. Courtney Clayton Jenkins is Opening Worship Speaker.
Rev. Jenkins, a trailblazing leader, serves as Senior Pastor and Teacher at South Euclid United Church of Christ in Cleveland Ohio. In 2010, she made history as the youngest, first woman, and first African American to lead the congregation, revitalizing it after a fire ravaged their historic building.
